Customizing your website’s typography is essential for creating a unique and visually appealing design. If your theme allows it, you can add custom fonts from your computer or install Google Fonts directly through the Global Styles settings. This section guides you through the process of adding and managing custom and Google Fonts.
Accessing the Font Management Panel
To begin adding new fonts, follow these steps:
- Log in to your website’s admin dashboard.
- Navigate to Appearance in the left-hand menu.
- Click on Editor to open the site editor.
- In the editor, click anywhere on the site and click on the Styles section.
- Select Typography → Fonts to access the font management panel.
Installing Google Fonts
If your theme or platform supports Google Fonts, you can install them directly from the editor. Follow these steps:
- Navigate to the “Install Fonts” tab within the Typography settings.
- Use the search bar to find a font from the Google Fonts library.
- Click on the font name (e.g., Roboto, Lora, or Plus Jakarta).
- Select the desired font variants (e.g., Regular, Bold, Italic, etc.).
- Click the Install button to add the font to your website.
- After installation, click Update to apply the new font globally.
Performance Tip: Installing too many font variants may increase page load time. Select only the variants you need to maintain site performance.
Uploading Custom Fonts
If you prefer to use a font that is not available in Google Fonts, you can upload a custom font file.
- Navigate to the “Upload Fonts” tab in the Typography settings.
- Click Upload Font and select the font file from your computer.

Assigning the New Font to Elements
Once you’ve installed or uploaded a font, you can apply it to various elements on your site:
- Go to Styles → Typography.
- Select the text type (Headings, Body, Buttons, Links).
- Click the font dropdown and select your newly added font.
- Adjust size, weight, letter spacing, and line height as needed.
